- Registered shares
The shareholder is known by the company and enjoys personalised services :
- Pure registered shares : the shares are exclusively registered with the company’s Securities Department, which holds and manages them free of charge.
- Administered shares : the shares are held and managed by a financial intermediary, and are also registered with the company’s Securities Department.
(this method is especially recommended for shares held in a PEA Personal Equity Plan)
- Bearer shares
The shareholder is only indirectly known by the company; his investment manager alone holds and manages his shares. However, listed companies can obtain the list of their bearer shareholders at a given date (TPI file – Titres au Porteur Identifiables [Identifiable Bearer Securities]) from the organisation in charge of share compensation (Euroclear France).
Groupe SEB requests this file every year at 31 December for a better understanding of its shareholder base.
