Sustainable development, a cross-sector approach

  • Sustainable Development Steering Committee

In 2004, Groupe SEB set up a Sustainable Development Department in order to standardise, orientate and give impetus to a collective, participatory process in this area. A Sustainable Development Steering Committee was set up in 2005 to create genuine in-house momentum.

  • A cross-sector approach

The steering committee’s six members represent the Groupe’s main business units. Their role is both to make proposals and to serve as sustainable development "ambassadors" to the Groupe’s external teams and partners.

  • Diffusion

Various communication media help to raise the teams’ awareness and foster the exchange of ideas:

    - The Globe News electronic newsletter, a window on the world that monitors sustainable development.

    - The forum, a more interactive medium on the Groupe’s Intranet site where any employee can ask questions or share personal thoughts.

    - The "Stop to preconceived ideas" leaflet: aimed at managers, it aims to promote Sustainable Development by eliminating certain preconceived ideas.

    - Sustainable Development week : during Sustainable Development week, in France, the Group will be reasserting its commitment to all of its employees via on-site posters. It will also be organising awareness raising activities on the basis of various themes: environment, biodiversity, health, disability…

    - Presentations of the various operations to the Management Committees: the members of the Management Committee, the support functions and the members of the Executive Committee are regularly informed of progress made in the Group's Sustainable Development programme.

    - Environmental, safety and diversity training complete this approach.
