Good practices of management

A tool for dialogue between managers and their teams: the "180° management survey"

In the framework of Fair Process, any manager who wants to can request an assessment of his/her performance. Team members fill out an anonymous questionnaire, which is processed by an outside firm. Meanwhile, the manager performs a self-appraisal by answering the same questionnaire. After the confidential answers are summarised, the manager and his/her team discuss the findings to define ways to improve the manager’s performance, which will be reviewed at the next 180° management survey.
This process is an outstanding way to develop constructive dialogue between managers and their staff members, increasing harmony and professional effectiveness. Setting an example plays a major role: in 2005, all the board members, including the Groupe’s chairman, had taken part in a 180° management survey.

Tailor-made and multicultural training

Groupe SEB University offers managers from all the countries a set of cross-sector training courses to strengthen update and share the common business and managerial skills considered indispensable for carrying out the group’s strategic projects.

Over 80 managers from approximately 15 countries take the courses, which are in English. The multicultural exchanges of experiences between participants from around the world help to broaden the managers’ horizons: they become more creative and responsive to market variations and able to adapt better. The courses have created a genuine managerial community.
