Aware of our responsibility, we are committed to reducing the environmental impacts stemming from our business activity. In 2016, we joined the Science Based Targets initiativelaunched in 2015 by WWF alongside the UN Global Compact (Organisation des nations unies), the World Resources Institute, and the Carbon Disclosure. The aim of this initiative is to encourage the world's major companies to align their greenhouse gas emissions targets with the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to limit the rise in the average global temperature to 2°C.
Seeking to shrink our environmental footprint, in 2013 we set four ambitious targets for 2020:
These measures had already produced results at the end of 2016. We recorded a 13% decrease in the energy used at our industrial and logistics sites, exceeded our objective on recycling with 37% of recycled materials for the products that we manufacture, and exceeded our goal on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions linked to product transport, with a 24% reduction per unit sold.
To reduce the environmental footprint of products throughout their life cycle, we have implemented an eco-design policy set out in a guide. The Eco-Design Guide contains objectives for all the phases in the life cycle of a product and its packaging and specifies our priority focuses in terms of eco-design.

Because 70% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from the energy consumed using our products, their energy efficiency is our first front of action for shrinking our carbon footprint.
To reduce the greenhouse gas emissions related to our manufacturing, we implemented a global environment management system back in 2003. Our approach has produced results, with 94% of our sites gradually obtaining ISO 14001 certification.
We are working on two fronts to reduce the greenhouse gas emitted by logistics, developing alternative non-road transport modes and improving the load rates of transport units.
