A pioneer in the fields of repairability and sustainability, Groupe SEB has always placed ESG at the heart of its strategy and operations. Through its ESG initiative, “Act for a better living”, the Group is continuing its sustainable transformation by developing more circular and responsible business models that create value for all its stakeholders.
This commitment was recognized at the LSA “La conso s’engage” Trophy ceremony, held on September 29 in Paris, which honors the best ESG initiatives by players in the consumer goods sector. The Groupe SEB received two awards there, recognizing flagship projects that demonstrate its ability to turn its commitments into concrete achievements that benefit consumers, local communities, and the environment.
Category: Manufacturers (ex aequo)
This award recognizes the project carried out with Boulanger and Environnement Recycling centered on the Rowenta Silence Force 7 vacuum cleaner.
This project is the result of a collaborative effort aimed at demonstrating the feasibility of a 100% French closed-loop recycling system: end-of-life appliances collected in stores, plastics recycled in France, and then reused in the manufacture of a new vacuum cleaner produced in France at the Group’s site in Vernon, in the Eure department. With this first batch of 12,000 units, we are providing concrete proof that the circular economy can work on a large scale when retailers, recyclers, and manufacturers join forces. This initiative thus marks the transition from promise to proof.
Beyond its industrial impact, this project also sends a strong message to consumers: returning an end-of-life appliance is not a trivial act. It helps create new products and concretely demonstrates that everyone can contribute to conserving resources through simple recycling actions.
This second award recognizes our “Made, Remade & Recycled in France” initiative, which leverages our strong industrial presence in France to develop value-creating activities across the country: production, remanufacturing, recycling, and the reintegration of recycled materials.
This award highlights initiatives such as the relocation of Rowenta stick vacuum production to Vernon, the opening of a specialized reconditioning center in Is-sur-Tille, the development of a recycling program for skillets and pots, and the establishment of a closed-loop recycling system with Boulanger. These efforts illustrate the Group’s ability to leverage its industrial roots in France as a driver of sovereignty and sustainable. They demonstrate that it is possible to combine competitiveness, local job creation, and the circular economy within a single industrial model.
